How to Make Valentine’s Day Snack Mix
This easy recipe is prepared in just over 30 minutes. Simply mix, pour and bake!
- First, preheat the oven to 250 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix together Chex cereal, oyster crackers, and pretzels.
- Next, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat, or in the microwave at 50% power. Combine melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla in a small bowl. Mix until combined, leaving it liquid enough to pour over the cereal mixture.
- Pour brown sugar mixture over cereal mixture, stirring thoroughly with a rubber spatula until completely coated.
- Spread the snack mixture in an even layer as much as you can on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through the baking time.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool completely. If you add the candy too soon, they will start to melt, especially the M&Ms!
- Transfer the salty treat to a large, clean bowl and add the candy. Mix well and serve! Note: Due to the weight of the caramel, it tends to sink to the bottom, so be sure to mix it well before serving or top each serving with additional caramels.
Each serving of this festive Valentine’s Day snack mix is about 1 cup. You’ll find the full list of ingredients and instructions in the recipe card below!

Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 250°F and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment.
-
In a large bowl, mix together cereal, oyster crackers, and pretzels.
-
Combine melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla in a small bowl. Mix until combined, leaving it a little runny so you can easily pour it over the cereal mixture.
-
Pour the sugar mixture slowly over the cereal mixture while stirring to completely coat.
-
Spread evenly on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, stirring halfway through. Let it cool completely after removing it from the oven.
-
Pour into an extra large bowl and add the candy. Mix well and serve. Most candies will sink to the bottom due to the weight, so you may want to reserve some to put in when serving.
