Frequently asked questions
Typically, you should choose apples that are nice and firm so that they keep their shape after a while in the oven. This usually includes Granny Smith, Fuji, Castle and Cortland to name a few. I use Granny Smith apples in most of my apple recipes.
Of all my apple recipes, my apple butter uses the most at 5.5 pounds! Some other apple-heavy recipes include mine applesauce, Dutch apple pieand apple pie pie (3 pounds each). my apple crisp It uses slightly less at 2 lbs.
Yes you can! Just be aware that frozen apples change texture and are usually softer when thawed. I don’t recommend frozen fruit apple recipes where the apples are left whole or cut into large chunks (like me apple pie, caramel apple dip, baked appleor fried apples).
It really depends on your preference! I usually delete them (if I own apple butter) because the pods can be tough and chewy when cooked. I will usually say in the recipe if you need to peel your apples.

I can’t wait to hear what recipes you try from this list! I plan to add a few more apple recipes to the blog this fall – any specific recipes you’d like to see? Let me know in the comments 👇
