It’s creamy Peanut Butter Chocolate Fruit Dip Combine milk chocolate, creamy peanut butter, Philadelphia cream cheese, and Cool Whip to make a delicious fruit dip you won’t be able to stop eating. This sauce is a huge crowd pleaser, making it perfect for a party dish or even an afternoon snack!
Who doesn’t love chocolate mixed with peanut butter? Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever met a person who doesn’t. I mean, chocolate and peanut butter are two absolutely delicious things on their own, but when you put them together, BAM, it produces an absolutely incredible taste sensation!
Believe it or not, I had never made a fruit sauce before making this recipe for the first time years ago! I know there are so many delicious sauces out there, but for some reason, making my own was never on my radar.
We’ve been eating a lot of fruit lately and I knew that Philadelphia cream cheese would be the perfect base for a tasty dip because it always pairs so well with fruit and many other things. Now I’m hooked and can’t wait to twist it up and get more varieties of great sauces!
Why I love cream cheese
Philadelphia cream cheese is something I use a lot in my cooking. A LOT. I have used it for these Chocolate Peanut Butter Dream Bars, Cream Cheese Stuffed Mushrooms, Raspberry Cream Cheese Sconesthese Cream Cheese Brownies with Peanut Butter Chipsand the list goes on.
Seriously, you could eat this sweet and tangy cream cheese dip with a spoon, but pairing it with the fruit makes it so much better. Oh how I LOVE salsa with bananas and apple slices, but especially with bananas.
What ingredients do I need to make this chocolate sauce?
This delicious dip only needs four simple ingredients and less than ten minutes in total! Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 8-ounce package Philadelphia cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ½ cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 8-ounce container Cool Whip
How to Make Peanut Butter Chocolate Fruit Dip
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips for 30 seconds in the microwave. Stir, then continue melting in 10 second intervals and stir until the chocolate is completely smooth and melted.
- In the bowl of a mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the Philadelphia cream cheese and peanut butter. Beat until smooth. You can also use a hand mixer.
- Add the melted chocolate to the bowl and beat well until combined, making sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl.
- Fold in the Cool Whip with a rubber spatula. Serve your fruit dip with your favorite fruits and snacks!
What should I serve with this delicious sauce?
Serve this dip with fresh fruit or any of your favorite snacks. Here are some ideas:
- Bananas
- apple slices
- strawberries
- Pineapple
- Orange Slices
- Pretzels
- Graham Crackers
- Animal Crackers
- marshmallows
- waffle cone pieces
Substitutions
- If you are looking for a healthier dip recipe, you can substitute low-fat cream cheese or even Greek yogurt for the regular cream cheese. Plain or vanilla yogurt would work well, but the consistency will be different.
- You can use natural peanut butter. Stir it well before measuring and adding it to the sauce.
- Use dark chocolate chips or pieces instead of milk chocolate.
How to Store Peanut Butter Chocolate Dessert Sauce
Store your fruit sauce in a small container in the refrigerator. Make sure it is airtight and it should last 3 to 4 days in the refrigerator. You can serve it cold or let it come to room temperature.
Can I freeze this Peanut Butter Chocolate Fruit Dip?
The answer is yes, you can freeze this sauce, but be careful because the texture may change and become more noticeably grainy. Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to a month.
