You will love this strawberry smoothie. This recipe is cold, creamy and satisfying, and the nutty strawberry flavor is truly crave-worthy.

In their simplest form, these strawberry smoothies require just four ingredients:Frozen strawberries, frozen banana, almond milk and almond butter.

This smoothie recipe tastes like a strawberry milkshake, and you can make it for breakfast! I’ll be sipping these pink drinks all summer long, and I hope the recipe becomes a staple in your house, too.

These strawberry smoothies are easy to make. They’re surprisingly filling, as they provide a good amount of protein and fiber. Make them for breakfast, or anytime you’re in the mood for ice cream – they’re so good.

Frozen strawberries They offer a distinctive berry flavour, antioxidants and a fun pink colour. One 10-ounce bag, or about two cups, will be fine. If possible, buy organic strawberries because conventional berries are known to have a high level of pesticide exposure.

Frozen banana Make this smoothie naturally creamy and sweet.

Almond butter It offers extra creaminess, plus protein, fiber, and heart-healthy monounsaturated fat.

Vanilla almond milk This makes the smoothie as creamy as possible (cashew or coconut milk options work well, too). Buy unsweetened to avoid refined sugar. My favorite brands are Malk, Three Trees, and Forager’s. Or use water for a slightly less luxurious texture.

For a sweeter juice, add maple syrup, According to taste. Banana is usually sweet enough for me, but a little maple syrup makes this smoothie taste like a milkshake.

For extra adhesion, you can add up to 1/4 cup Old-fashioned oats And/or up to 2 tablespoons Flax seeds (full or ground). Flax makes the remaining juices almost pudding-like in texture, and I love it!

How to Freeze Bananas Quickly (and Minimize Freezer Burn)

Buy a large bunch of bananas and let them ripen well. Aim for nice yellow bananas, perhaps with some spots, not quite the spotty brown like you would otherwise banana bread.

Peel the banana and cut it into 1/2-inch slices. Freeze by placing slices in a single layer on baking sheets covered with parchment paper (choose sheet(s) that fit your freezer). This is also a great way to freeze bananas quickly.

Once completely frozen, transfer them to a freezer bag and they will keep in the freezer for several months.

Thaw strawberries for 5 minutes before using

Frozen strawberries, especially large ones, can be tough on the blender. To prevent damage to your blender and for easier blending, let the strawberries thaw at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes before using. Or you can microwave them for 30 seconds to a minute, just until they lose frosting and start to soften a little.

If you’re still having trouble mixing, pause, stir, and let the mixture rest for a few more minutes before trying again. You can always add another splash or two of milk if you need a little more traction.

Make this strawberry smoothie for breakfast (or dessert)! This strawberry smoothie recipe is creamy, luscious, and nutritious. It almost tastes like a strawberry milkshake. Recipe makes 2 to 4 servings (about 4 cups); You can easily halve or double the recipe.

  • 1 ½ cup to 2 cups of unsweetened vanilla almond milk or water
  • 10 oz (2 cups) frozen and thawed strawberries 5 to 10 minutes*
  • 1 ½ cup Frozen bananas (I freeze bananas in ½-inch slices)
  • ¼ cup Almond butter
  • Optional nutritional booster: ¼ cup old-fashioned oats and/or 2 tablespoons flax seeds
  • 1 to 2 2 teaspoons maple syrup, if desired, to sweeten

  1. In a blender, combine all ingredients, starting with the almond milk.
  2. Blend on low until the blender gains traction, then increase speed to the highest speed as soon as possible (or if your blender has a smoothie function, this will work well). Use a blender plunger, if you have one, and stop scraping down the sides as necessary. If the strawberries refuse to break apart, let the mixture sit for several minutes before trying again. Add up to an additional 1/2 cup milk if necessary.
  3. Once the juice is completely smooth and creamy, taste it and blend it with maple syrup if you want a sweeter juice. Divide the juice into 2 to 4 cups, depending on the desired serving size. Serve immediately!

*Strawberry note: Frozen strawberries, especially when they are large, can be difficult to blend, even in high-powered blenders. That’s why I suggest letting the strawberries thaw at room temperature for 5 to 10 minutes in advance.

Make it gluten-free: The smoothie is gluten-free without the oats. If you are adding oats, make sure they are certified gluten-free.

Make it nut-free: I haven’t tried this, but you can replace the almond butter with sunbutter, nut-free milk (oat milk, coconut milk, etc.) or water for the almond milk.

Storage suggestions: These juices keep well in the refrigerator, covered, for one to two days. The color of the top layer may darken; Extract that layer if you’re bothered by it.
