Ranch Water Cocktail Recipe – Cookie and Kate

Have you tried ranch water cocktail? If not, let me introduce you to this drink! It’s a big tequila soda with extra lime, and the ranch water is more than the sum of its parts. If you pair a great tequila with Topo Chico, it tastes really good.

Farm water is like a sparkling, light, and completely unsweetened margarita. If even “skinny” margarita Sometimes water is too sweet for you, so try ranch water instead. It’s super refreshing and perfect on a hot day. When I’m at a bar without an exciting wine list, ranch water is my go-to drink no matter the season.

Farm water components

The farm’s water comes from Texas, with Farm 616 In Austin, they claim to be the “home of the original farm water.” I honestly can’t remember when I first tried farm water—it might have been during a month in Austin in 2015, or sometime in between. My brother lives in West Texas and I was thrilled to discover farm water at his wedding a few years ago.

Ready-to-use farm water cocktails in cans are becoming more popular, but You can’t beat homemade farm water. Made with good tequila, Topo Chico sparkling liqueur and fresh lime. It’s super easy to make. You can find my recipe below!

Ranch Water Ingredients

Ranch water cocktail is made with three simple ingredients, plus an optional pinch of salt. You can serve it over ice in a tall glass. Here’s what you’ll need to make it:

1) White tequila

Tequila Blanco is a standard drink in the farm waters, This is my personal preference, too. Tequila blanco is also known as tequila plata, or white or silver tequila in English. Because it is bottled immediately after distillation, it offers the purest tequila flavor and is generally colorless. If you have a reposado or añejo (aged) tequila that you love, definitely give it a try.

For farm water, I recommend Casamigas, Espalon and Milagro. They are my first choices for everyone. Tequila cocktailsBecause of the simplicity of this cocktail, the tequila flavor really shines through. Always choose 100% agave tequila so you know exactly what you’re buying. Cheap tequila blends contain a combination of alcohol and additives that can contribute to a hangover.

Some recipes available online call for three ounces of tequila per drink, which is considered stronger than MartiniFarm water should be easy to drink, which is why my recipe calls for a standard 1 1/2 ounce pour.

2) Topo Chico or sparkling water

The Topo Chico area, with its abundant small bubbles, is ideal for farm water. Mineragua is another type of Mexican sparkling water that is just as good as other sparkling waters. Otherwise, you can use any unflavored sparkling water or soda.

I feel compelled to mention that Topo Chico got into trouble a couple of years ago when Consumer Reports found it to be high in PFAS.also known as “permanent chemicals.” The following year, they reported that The brand has cut its levels by more than half. They told me via email that “their most recent sample of Topo Chico was below the EPA detection limit of 2.0 ppt.” I personally would prefer it to be at zero.

Mineragua claims it is designed without PFAS.Although I’m not 100% sure that means it’s completely free of these substances. If you want a completely pure sparkling water, go with Mountain Valley, which claims to be PFAS-free (Here are the results of their own test.). Its water has more minerals in the flavor and the bubbles are not as abundant, but I think it would be fine in farm water.

3) Fresh lemon

Fresh lemons, in large quantities, are the only way to success! Don’t use store-bought canned lemon juice, please. Lemons soften the taste of alcohol and are reminiscent of MargaritaMy recipe calls for a little more lemon juice than most recipes, because I think the more lemon the better. Try it my way first and you can always reduce the amount a little for future drinks.

This recipe calls for one ounce of lemon juice, which is roughly equivalent to the juice of one small to medium lemon. Lemons vary greatly in the amount of juice they produce, so measure it out with a scale if you want to be precise. Otherwise, add another splash of soda if you end up with too much.

Juicing Tips: To get the most juice out of a lemon, roll it vigorously under your hand on a work surface before cutting. Citrus fruits yield more juice at room temperature than refrigerated ones, although they keep significantly longer in the fridge. I like to use This citrus juicer To get every last drop, squeeze the juice directly into the This is the measurement scale. (affiliate links).

4) A very small pinch of salt

Salt is optional, but it enhances the overall flavor of the cocktail. Try your drink without it and then with it to taste the difference.
